I almost called this post Frying on Friday because it was so hot! We had a great day at camp but we were roasting. I asked the campers which they preferred, the cool wet days we had Monday-Thursday or the heat on Friday and they unanimously agreed that cool and wet was better. We did everything we could to keep cool. We bought all the ice Safeway had. We drank water, more water, then even more water. We tried to keep kids in the shade whenever possible, we even crowded all of us into the Cabana for the all-camp sing-a-long and unit performances. Even though it was hot we had a fabulous day!
Units B and C made delicious pots of Stone Soup. Each batch was unique because as a group the girls choose their ingredients. Chop them all up. Cook, stir, and voila, a steaming bowl of delicious Stone Soup.
Everyone loves signing shirts on the last day of camp! One camper had over 100 signatures!
It was tight quarters for our all camp sing-a-long but it was nice to be together in the shade. The highlight of the program is the PA Song/Skit. Ask your campers about, I'm sure they can act it out for you.
Unit D performing for the group.
In our Essential Pirate Knots activity everyone in the group needs to be able to tie the knot correctly or our many pieces of rope tied together will not hold us when we lean back.
Every good pirate needs to know their knots. Is there a better way to practice them than this? The girls of Unit I don't think so.
