Go Outside - Sit Spot


Go outside and find a place in nature to sit down.  Try to make it comfortable so you can stay awhile.

Relax and practice using your senses to observe nature and the world around you. 
Close your eyes and focus your senses:
  • ·         Listen, what do you hear?  Close to you, far from you, are there birds, insects?
  • ·         What do you smell?
  • ·         What do you feel?  Can you feel the sun? Is there a breeze?

Open your eyes:
  • ·         Look carefully at what is around you
  • ·         Notice what’s happening with the plants, trees, and animal life
  • ·         Are there birds? Insects? Squirrels or other mammals?

Some people like to write or draw about what they noticed in their sit spot.
Come back to this spot again in a few days and do this again.  What has changed?  What’s the same?
