30 Additional Campers…How Can You Help?

This year we accepted 30 more campers than usual!

We hated to turn so many girls away so we used some creative problem solving to figure out how to accommodate more campers.
We had four main problems to solve:
1. staffing
2. space
3. supplies
4. parking

We solved the first three by recruiting more staff, changing the way we do the barbeque, and investing in more tables, shelters, and supplies.

This leaves us with only one problem, but it is a BIG problem. We made more space for campers in camp but we do not have enough space to put the vehicles they arrive in. We desperately NEED you to carpool! If you don’t live near anyone to carpool with how about meeting at Safeway to combine kids into one car?

Camper Drop Off and Pick Up:
We are very fortunate that the Loutsis family continues to allow us to hold our camp on their property. Please help us to preserve the property and the safety of the children and staff by driving very slowly while at camp. When you arrive at camp our staff will direct you into our drive-thru lanes. Please stay in your car and park as closely as possible to the car in front of you. We highly encourage carpooling (well actually we BEG you to carpool). You need to know the unit letter of each child in your car. It is very helpful if you have a sign in your car displaying the unit letters of all campers riding with you.

It is a common misconception that arriving a few minutes late helps the traffic. Unfortunately late arrivals actually cause us to stop traffic in order to clear out the one way portions of the driveway. Please plan to arrive at camp between 9:10-9:20 and 3:50-4:00.We know the lack of space for parking can be frustrating. With 210 campers it is going to be tough to squeeze everyone in. Please be patient with us as we do our best to get everyone in and out safely and efficiently. The first day is always the toughest, but trust me it will get better and our system really does work. I can not stress enough the importance of carpooling!

See you soon!
